Thank you, Keith, and thank you to all the other readers who sent lovely messages. It was a pleasure to share the ceremony with you all. We received lots of great questions and we are sorry we could not get to all of them!
We are going to wrap up this liveblog at the end of a fortnight that has been extraordinary in Paris and France. We have had tremendous fun bringing you Olympic coverage over these past few weeks, but there's more to come! Stay tuned for more articles on the ceremony and assessing the success of the Games as a whole.
PS: The Paralympics are starting on August 28, with an opening ceremony on the Champs-Elysées and the Place de la Concorde. And guess who's directing the ceremony? Thomas Jolly, again! We'll be covering that too.

Tom, no shade, but was that motorbike really necessary? Paris' public transport is very much up to the task, and a €4 ticket is cheaper than all that gas!
Metro fan
Only a few weeks to go before the price returns to €2.15.

The magnificent Paris Olympics come to an end on Sunday, August 11, with the closing ceremony starting at 9 pm (Paris time) and lasting two hours. The last medal event was held on Sunday afternoon, with the USA winning gold in women's basketball.
The closing ceremony was prepared by the same people who gave us the spectacular and unforgettable opening ceremony on the Seine river. This time, we are returning inside a stadium, at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
The Los Angeles 2028 organizing committee has announced that Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will all participate. H.E.R. will perform the American national anthem.
During the ceremony, the flame at the floating cauldron in the Tuileries Gardens will be temporarily turned off. It will be reignited on August 28 during the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games.
