How to Watch 'The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' — Streaming Now (2024)

First introduced in 1968, The Planet of the Apesfranchise is still going strong. For fans of the primate-focused universe, the most recent film, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, has found a home on streaming.

Following its run in theaters, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is now available to stream on Hulu. Wes Ball, whose past projects include theMaze Runnertrilogy, directed the new film. Inthe movie, the apes have completely taken control of the world and live in harmony, while humans hide in the shadows on the outskirts of civilization. When a new primate leader takes over and wants to end the human threat forever, an unlikely alliance forms between one human (The Witcher'sFreya Allan) and a primate.

It star Owen Teague, who plays Noa in the new film, sat down with ET's Ash Crossan to discuss his role.

"It's a bigger world than the last three films," Teague explained. "We've branched out and apes have kind of had a diaspora... and established clans that have different belief systems and different customs. It's a really cool world."

He also mentioned Andy Serkis, a former star in the franchise, who guided him at length on how to play his primate role, "I think the most valuable, general sort of thing that he gave me was to not place quite so much emphasis on that part of it," he recalled. "When we met, it was still very early in the process. And I remember him basically being like, 'You're just acting, you know? Think of the chimpanzee as a costume that you're putting on and do everything that you would normally do for any character.'"

He went on, "On one hand, it's super different, because you've got a camera strapped to your head, but you're just acting...Andy was really helpful in sort of grounding me and just being like, 'It's not rocket science."
